These photographs of the finished bicycle are the result of a very kind arrangement by Paulus Quiros and are photographic studio shots upon the return of the bicycle from the Bristol Bespoke Hand Built Show 2013. Each photograph displays a different view of my Randonneur with a clear emphasis upon showing the various components as well as the frame itself. Much of the detail of the various specific items of components are shown off in a completely different way, and it it very interesting to see how another eye of professional status is able to see the variety of new angles that are displayed here.

This unique study is essentially to show the detail of the Bespoke front carrier and how it is secured to the frame and the dropout eyes so keeping the detail of the front fork blades, and their termination into the drop outs, these showing clearly their own detail. Also the large flange hubs together with the quick release skewer, and the narrow section rims in relation to the 42mm Grand Boise Hetre tyres

This lovely close up of the front end shows the Dia Compe centre pull brakes, much worked upon, The blocks much improved and the straddle cable, and above the Rene Herse type roller unit which prevents excessive wear upon the straddle cable. Fully in view is the down tube vintage style rear derailleur lever and jut visible is the tip of the the front derailleur lever. the Mud guards can be seen to give good if not excellent coverage of the the Grand Boise Hetre tyres.

In this illustration we are are treated to a close up of some of the specifics of the transmission featuring the Athena rear derailleur unit, the Shimano 9sp splined Cassette, the brass chain, brass being first used in the 50's by the French constucteurs. The prior detailed Chain slap located in position and blending well with the bike and the component parts in the area. The tyres giving a nice break in colour along with the painted chain stays.

I find this photograph quite something special as not only is the curved design of the carrier but the turned wheel allows for a view through the spokes of nearly the underside of the bottom bracket, the head badge, the stem and decaleur unit, the top tube and seat cluster, the down tube and a gear lever, and generally it is a very unusual shot, but somehow has captured the whole of the bike.

Clearly the aim here is to show the the head and how it appears in the polished stainless steel and concentrating  essentially upon the frontguard stays and just in view at bottom centre is the forward end of a BespoClearly the aim here is to show the the head and how it appears in the polished stainless steel and concentrating  essentially upon the front end showing the gear levers on the down tube, part of a bottle below, detail of the wrap around mudguard stays and just in view at bottom centre is the forward end of a Bespoke hand builtke hand built

The much mentioned else where is the shot of the 'Dragonfly' finish of the seat stays and how they they wrap around the seat cluster seemingly diminishing into a flat appearance and just how the Celtic Knot is located and blends into the 'Dragonfly' cluster. Also can be seen upon the seat tube the standard feature of a silk thin detail of the dragonfly fly wings and tail. This is quite unique as when one runs a hand over the detail it is impossible to feel the detail.

This series of two photographs shows the extraordinary effort that has been put into the rear stainless steel carrier and shows the radius's fittings that fix in part the carrier to the frame and the silver brazed bosses on the 931 seat stays. Above clearly is an angled view of the famous 'Gaudi' cable stop sitting in line with below the Rene Herse unit through which the brake straddle wire passes. Detail of the the Zeppelin mud guards, and showing how they fit well over the 42mm tyres and partially down the tyre wall. The very neat binder bolt is now in location and one can see just how the Rene Singer lugs shape around the seat pillar. The carrier is totally adjustable and an absolute breeze to remove as required.

A very fine shot of the rear end showing the 941 seat stay, and the very neat fixings for the front carrier. The large flange hubs blend neatly with the elaborate dropouts the total finished with the neat quick release unit. to the rear the jockey wheels of the Athena rear derailleur are evident.

I personally like this shot as it clearly shows how exact each component has been achieved and the detail of the Bespoke hand built carrier. The centre pull brake shows a clear line slitting the head tube visually.

Here we have a clear example of the finite detail that has gone onto the build of this Randonneur showing the leather wrapping of one of the bottle carriers to prevent rattling.

The water bottles are set at an equilibrium so that despite the differing degree of the tubes there is effort to show balance. Here we have a superb illustration of the the design of the rear carrier. The superb Rene Herse Triple chain wheel and the front and rear derailleurs.

The Completed Randonneur in all its glory with many of the traditional components contributing to the superb frame and related 'Trail"

This is my very first view of my completed frame and components taken in the unit just before the bike was shipped off to to Bristol for the Bristol Bespoke Hand Built Show. Circumstances prevented me from seeing the bike through the building stage other than agreeing trail, drawings, and other matters exchanging them using email.

Circumstances prevented me from seeing the bike through the building stage other than agreeing trail, drawings, and other matters exchanging them using email. The Gilles Bertoud handle bar bag has been removed to show the detail of the near matching Bespoke carriers

I have enclosed this detail as these stainless steel bar ends were turned and when they were originally detailed the thought was simply to create a simple tough, item that would blend with other stainless steel components.

This illustration is purely to show the bespoke design of the front carrier, and its extremely neat fixings. The stainless steel circles are part of the design to provide a functional location for passing straps through to secure whatever is being carried upon the carrier surface.

I like these two shots of the front end as so much detai of the specification has been captured from the front carrier, bars, decaleur, stem, down tube shifters, and the finished frame. In this shot and the one below one can see the design of the bespoke toe clips, and the lyotard platform pedals.

Included as this provides for a very neat picture of some of the features of a randonneur bicycle at the front end. The carrier and bag are clear as is the centre pull brakes, the hanger, and the Rene Herse init on the straddle cable. The frame, lugs, shifters, and the PBP double plate fork crown. The grand Bois stem is show and it also clearly  shows the decaleur unit.

The Lyotard platform pedal was initially created by Pierre Lyotard back in the 30's and was named after the French racing cyclist Marcel Berthet, and although this pedal is a copy of the original design is probably the most expensive of its type. It truly is a beautiful pedal , and authentic to the original. The Rene Herse triple crankset is clear as is the Campagnolo Front derailleur.

This a superb view of the pedal and shown here with the bespoke hand built unique toe clip. The brass chain can be seen at rest on the centre ring of the the Rene Herse Triple.

This illustration shows the chain slap in position upon the chain stay, the chain rest just visible, and the superb Campagnolo Athena gear together with the Shimano cassette, splinedx10

Upon this bicycle is a secret component which was a desperate last minute procurement which occurred just prior to the delivery. I am sworn to secrecy over this item which in actual fact is a genuine item which is a precursor of every component upon the Randonneur and in actual fact is a genuine part that hails from 1920's. Jose is very familiar with this particular item and I challenge any one to see if they are capable of finding the truth from him. All I can say is it is lovely, and to own such a component from the 1920's is truly a delight.
